Greetings,

On behalf of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Delta Chapter, I would like to welcome you to the 2013-2014 school year. I am excited and honored to serve as Chapter President.

The Alpha Delta’s theme for the 2013-2014 academic year is ¨Raising the Bar! Blazing a Trail!¨ To honor this theme throughout the year, Alpha Delta will utilize the 3R’s as our chosen methodology. Reconnect, Rejuvenate, & Reclaim! It is important that we Reconnect as a chapter and a community so that Alpha Delta’s goals and the standards of Alpha Phi Alpha are more than rhetoric written on paper. Our plan is to consistently set and achieve goals that will ¨Raise the Bar!¨ while also allowing our experiences to ¨Blaze a Trail!¨that can be seen, followed and improved upon by those who will follow us!

1. Reconnecting – By reconnecting with brothers, whether they be current college brothers or alumni of the chapter who have long since graduated, Alpha Delta will continue to build the bond of brotherhood within our chapter. These connections will allow us an opportunity to care for one another on personal and professional levels. It is also important that we reconnect with the Los Angeles Community on USC’s campus and in the surrounding area of South Central LA. Considering the climate of USC (a privileged, predominately white campus that is surrounded by a largely minority community) it is imperative that Alpha Phi Alpha reconnects with our neighbors in order to maintain open avenues for service, business and social activities. Furthermore, after the racial tension that surfaced last semester, Alpha Delta has made it a high priority to prevent future misunderstandings and will lead the charge to establishing better relationships with the people and cultures that surround us.

2. Rejuvenate – To rejuvenate the passion and commitment to Alpha Delta and Alpha Phi Alpha at large, the chapter is placing a major focus on encouraging new ideas and approaches to delivering our chapter and national programs to USC and our neighbors in the community. Through innovation and unique implementation our chapter will be even more effective when connecting and serving those who are in need. This in turn will assist in the revival of the spirit of our fraternity and allow or families, friends and communities access to programs, services and social events that Alpha Delta provides.

3. Reclaim – To reclaim not only the status on USC’s campus to which Alpha Delta has become accustomed, but also, to reclaim the position of being a one-stop-shop that the USC community, students and faculty can depend on for quality service, programs and events.

To my Alpha Delta Brothers, with your help, guidance and support, I truly believe that the 3R’s will be implemented with ease and success. As the chapter’s president, I humbly offer my service to the chapter and will be working side-by-side with all of you to ensure that our beloved Alpha Delta chapter reaches its goals and continues to shine!
